Pensions Expert hosted a series of fascinating panels and fireside chats ahead of announcing its Pension and Investment Provider Awards 2022 winners.
The session kicked off with an interview with NextGen chair Caroline Escott, who discussed diversity and inclusion with editor Maria Espadinha, along with actions taken by the Pensions Regulator.
A panel discussion on scheme services followed. Michael Clark, trustee director at Ross Trustees, and Teneo director Simon Kew faced questions on schemes’ plans for 2023, the outlook for consolidation, and the impact of new regulation.
Buck principle Celene Lee, XPS Pensions Group chief investment officer Simeon Willis, and Cardano deputy chief investment officer Keith Guthrie then discussed global macroeconomic conditions and their impact on investment services. They analysed developing trends in pension scheme investment and their thoughts on the year ahead.
A fireside chat between ClearGlass executive chair Dr Chris Sier and deputy editor Alex Janiaud followed. Sier gave his thoughts on the recent market turbulence and explained the relevance of cost transparency. He detailed why transparency matters and what schemes can do with it.
The final discussion of the day involved Capital Cranfield professional trustee Andy Cheseldine, IC Select director Anne-Marie Gillon, and Clara-Pensions director of strategy and communications Richard Williams. The group explored best practices in the pensions industry and their importance during market volatility, as well as discussing the evolution of different roles in the industry and their optimism for the future.
