Professional trustee group Vidett has acquired Bridgehouse Company Secretaries as it seeks to expand its service provision.

Bridgehouse is a corporate governance, risk and regulatory compliance service provider founded in 2005 and based in London.

Vidett said the acquisition reflected its intention to “be a leader in the governance market”. Both firms will benefit from a wider range of services and greater efficiency, the company said in a statement.

Wayne Phelan, Vidett’s group chief executive officer, said: “We’re excited to welcome the Bridgehouse team into the Vidett group. This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to both Bridgehouse’s existing market and client base and, for Vidett, to new markets beyond pensions governance.

“Together, we’ll bring an unrivalled pool of knowledge and experience to support clients’ governance needs and will enhance our ability to be the employer of choice in a competitive governance market.”

Ibi Eso, Bridgehouse managing director, added: “This acquisition is such a positive step for me and my team at Bridgehouse. Being part of a stronger, more resilient business means we can invest for our future – in services, technology and people.

“One of Vidett’s greatest strengths is its people. What struck me was their passion for their team, desire to offer excellent client service, their values and an unwavering commitment to support us in this next phase of our company. Together, we can bring to life our vision for governance services in the future.”

The deal follows Independent Governance Group’s acquisition of KGC Associates in November, and comes as the Department for Work and Pensions is exploring potential new legislation affecting professional trustee firms and administration providers.
