The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) has named Girish Menezes as its new president, succeeding Robert Wakefield.
Menezes is currently a partner and head of administration at Isio. He has previously led the admin teams at Premier Companies, KPMG, and Buck. He is also a board member at the Pensions Administration Standards Association.
The PMI said Menezes would work with the board and its executive team to “shape the PMI’s strategic priorities and elevate standards across the sector”.
Wakefield, who joined The Tracing Service as director of business operations earlier this year, has been president of the PMI since 2023.
As well as Menezes’ appointment, the PMI also named three new non-executive directors to its board at its annual general meeting this week.
The new faces are:
- Louise Davey, head of policy and external affairs at Independent Governance Group and a former senior executive at the Pensions Regulator;
- Duncan Buchanan, an independent trustee and former pensions lawyer at Hogan Lovells, as well as a former president of the Society of Pension Professionals; and
- Mary Cahani, head of UK defined contribution distribution at Invesco.
The PMI board also approved the reappointment of Rachika Cooray, partner and head of governance at LCP, while the institute’s chief strategy officer Helen Forrest Hall was named an executive director.
Ruston Smith, chair of the PMI, said: “We are delighted to welcome Girish as our new president and to strengthen our board with such a diverse and talented group. Their combined experience and passion for professional excellence will be instrumental as we continue to support our members, raise standards, and drive innovation across the pensions industry.”
Menezes added: “It is an honour to serve as president of the PMI at such a pivotal moment for pensions. I look forward to representing our members and working with the Board to drive forward our mission of strengthening governance, enhancing skills, and delivering better outcomes for savers and beneficiaries.”
