Alyshia Harrington-Clark

Alyshia Harrington-Clark

The Pensions Regulator (TPR) has hired Alyshia Harrington-Clark to lead its work with commercial master trusts.

In her new role, she will oversee TPR’s relationships with providers such as Legal & General (L&G) and Aviva. Harrington-Clark joined the regulator last month after more than five years at Pensions UK (previously the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association), latterly as head of strategic policy.

While at the trade body, Harrington-Clark also worked as head of defined contribution (DC), master trusts, and lifetime savings.

She has substantial regulatory experience, having spent nearly seven years at the Financial Conduct Authority from 2014 until 2020.

Harrington-Clark joins the regulator as it is overhauling its oversight approach to master trusts in preparation for a period of consolidation in the DC space. Earlier this year, it announced plans to separate its DC regulation into four categories to reflect the changing nature of the sector.

Kew’s industry experience includes time at TPR as head of government relations, while he has also worked at Deloitte on its covenant team.

Argyll said Kew’s return to the covenant space came at “a particularly fast-changing time, given recent regulatory and parliamentary activity, and as the pensions industry gets to grips with TPR’s Funding Code”.

SEI strengthens DC sales team

Master trust provider SEI has appointed Emma Skedgel as sales director for DC, joining from L&G.

In her new role, SEI said Skedgel will be responsible for building and developing relationships with clients of the company’s master trust.

At L&G, Skedgel was business development director at L&G’s asset management business. She has previously held leadership roles at Isio, KPMG, Barclays Wealth Management, and Punter Southall.

Steve Charlton, managing director for DC at SEI, said: “Within the competitive pensions landscape, both employers and members are seeking schemes that offer stability, scale, and top-notch service.

“Emma’s deep expertise in sales and consulting within the DC market gives her a clear perspective on our clients’ needs, and her comprehensive knowledge of the master trust landscape will be an invaluable asset as we continue to develop the SEI Master Trust in support of strong member outcomes.”

TPT eyes growth in DC and CDC

TPT Retirement Solutions has hired Smart Pension’s Andrew Sheavyn as business development manager.

Sheavyn will oversee TPT’s business growth, with a focus on its DC and collective DC (CDC) offerings, the company said in a press release, both of which it said will “form key parts of TPT’s strategy”.

TPT announced formal plans for a CDC scheme earlier this year, and has also recently developed a decumulation service for its traditional DC scheme.

Sheavyn worked at Smart Pension for seven years and has previously worked at Capita Employee Solutions and L&G.

Adam Tudor, head of DC distribution, said: “With Andrew’s expertise, we are well placed to continue our innovation with our DC and CDC offerings, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our clients and members.”
