The latest hires, promotions and appointments for the week ending 6 December 2024.
People’s Partnership, provider of The People’s Pension, has appointed Phil Butler as deputy chief investment officer.
He joins from M&G where he was a multi-asset portfolio manager in the asset manager’s treasury and investment office.
Working with CIO Dan Mikulskis, Butler is now overseeing People’s Partnership’s investment teams based in its City of London office, which opened at the start of the year.
The master trust hit £30bn in assets under management earlier this year and expects to reach £50bn in the next four years. It also comes as People’s is preparing to allocate to private markets for the first time.
Mikulskis said the appointment “underlines our commitment to building foundations for The People’s Pension becoming a world class asset owner”.
Railpen, CoE representatives join IIGCC
Brunel Pension Partnership’s Faith Ward has been re-elected to serve a second term as chair of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC).
Ward is Brunel’s chief responsible investment officer, and has chaired IIGCC since December 2020.
The group has also elected two more UK board members: Michael Marshall, who is director of investment risk and sustainable ownership at Railpen, and Laura Hillis, director of climate and environment at the Church of England Pensions Board.
The IIGCC brings together asset owners from around the world to lobby on climate-related issues and collaborate on engagement and stewardship work.
Consultancy seeks to boost bulk annuity expertise
Global consultancy group 4most has hired Colin Haines as client partner for bulk annuity market services, based in London.
4most is an analytics consultancy working across insurance and other areas of financial services. In his new role, Haines will lead the company’s bulk annuity market services team, which provides data and analytics services to insurers.
He joins from Aon where he worked for 12 years, most recently as chief commercial officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in Aon’s Wealth Solutions business unit. He is also co-founder and CEO of Haines Global Pensions.
T Rowe Price boosts consultant relations team
Asset management giant T Rowe Price has appointed Ashlesha Vaishampayan as head of EMEA consultant relations, with effect from 1 January 2025.
She currently leads the firm’s consultant relations team in Asia, based out of Singapore, but will relocate to London for her new role.
Vaishampayan joined T Rowe Price in 2019 and previously worked in consultant relations at Russell Investments.
Nick Slater, head of global consultant relations, said Vaishampayan’s appointment woild “propel our ambitions to deepen relationships and gain significant traction with consultants and research houses across key markets”.
New distribution leaders at Nordea
Nordea Asset Management has hired James Elks and Lindsay Nickerson to key institutional distribution roles.
Elks joins from Royal London Asset Management as head of investment consultant relations. He has also worked at JO Hambro Capital Management, Martin Currie and Investec.
Nickerson joins as director of UK institutional relations, responsible for Nordea’s relationships with defined contribution (DC) and defined benefit clients. She previously worked in Aon’s DC team, and has also worked at Lloyds Banking Group and Deloitte.
