LGPS Central, the pooling company for eight local authority pension funds in the Midlands, has appointed Rajeev Mehta as programme director.
In his new role, Mehta will support the pool as it implements changes in line with the government’s ‘Fit for the future’ consultation on the Local Government Pension Scheme.
He has led several complex transformation projects in the asset management and financial services sectors, including at Schroders, HSBC Asset Management, Aviva Investors and Legal & General Investment Management.
In a statement, the pool said Mehta would “help drive forward our programme of innovation and development”.
Mehta said: “There is a tremendous opportunity to make a meaningful impact through well-governed, purposeful programme delivery. I look forward to working with colleagues and partner funds to help shape the future of pooling.”

Muse Advisory adds endgame planning experts
Consultancy group Muse Advisory has hired two programme managers to support pension schemes with endgame planning and implementation, as well as other complex projects.
Adam Barker joins from Aptia and has worked for 30 years on “complex change projects”, Muse said, primarily centring on pensions.
Meanwhile, Olivia Devereese has joined from Fidelity International and has more than a decade of experience managing regulatory pensions projects among other areas.
IGG boosts business development team
Professional trustee firm Independent Governance Group (IGG) has hired Charlie Stewart and Imran Rahim to its business development team.
Stewart joins as client growth manager, having previously worked at Isio on client relationship management, primarily with defined benefit pension schemes.
Rahim has been appointed business development manager. He was previously a bid manager at First Actuarial and has more than a decade of experience in business development strategy.
IGG said the hires supported its commercial growth strategy and its aim to build strong relationships with clients.
