Jagjit Chadha, renowned economist and a former adviser to UK policymakers, is to address the Pensions Expert Annual Conference on 26 November.
Chadha – Professor of Economics at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Cambridge – will give his reaction to the chancellor’s Budget speech, as well as casting a critical eye over the UK’s economic prospects.
He will be appearing alongside Tomasz Wieladek, chief European macro strategist at T Rowe Price, in a session chaired by former pensions minister Guy Opperman.

Jagjit Chadha served as director of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) from May 2016 until December 2024.
He started his career working at the Bank of England on monetary policy, and later worked at BNP Paribas as chief quantitative economist. Chadha has advised some of the leading monetary policy bodies in the UK, including the Bank of England, the Treasury, and the House of Commons Treasury Committee.
He was awarded an OBE in 2021 for services to economics and economic policy, and this year was elected as a founding fellow of the Royal Economic Society.
There are still some delegate spaces available for the Pensions Expert Annual Conference, taking place at Pennyhill Park in Surrey on 26 and 27 November.
The conference will include a live screening of Rachel Reeves’ Budget speech on 26 November. Other keynote speakers include Nausicaa Delfas of the Pensions Regulator, Chris Curry of the Pensions Dashboards Programme, and journalist and economic commentator Will Hutton.
