The Department for Work and Pensions has set out its objectives for the next four years. The department is looking to support productivity, disabled people and child maintenance provision. It has also stated a number of aims concerning retirement.
The department-wide policy document also states its aim to support productivity, disabled people and child maintenance provision.
Its commitment to the triple lock and means-tested pension credit was reaffirmed in an attempt to protect low-income pensioners.
The DWP will also maintain its delivery of the state pension and encourage more savers to access the ‘Check your State Pension’ digital service, which includes information on state pension forecasts.
Finally, the DWP will look to extend auto-enrolment to small business and the self-employed. The department has said it will publish a white paper with a view to strengthening the powers of the Pensions Regulator in relation to private sector pension schemes.
