The regulator’s executive director of market oversight will explain TPR’s approach to DB schemes’ endgame planning as well as the productive finance agenda.

He will address delegates on a range of issues including endgame planning, the impact of the new defined benefit (DB) funding code, and the productive finance agenda as it applies to DB schemes.

Bull joined TPR in 2017 as an investment consultant, taking over as head of investment in November 2022. He was appointed interim director of marketing oversight in April this year as part of the regulator’s structural overhaul, and was confirmed in the role permanently in June.

The DB Strategic Investment Forum takes place at Cameron House, overlooking Loch Lomond, on 17 and 18 September. The full agenda is available on the DG Publishing website here.

The event kicks off on Tuesday 17 September with a discussion about the future of investment consultants, chaired by Luke Webster, chief investment officer at the Greater London Authority.

Participants include Denise Le Gal, chair of the Brunel Pension Partnership, Phil Triggs, director at Westminster City Council, and William Bourne, an independent adviser. They will examine how consultancies work and how they may have to adapt as the DB universe matures and changes.

Other sessions on Wednesday 18 September will explore themes ranging from UK growth, real estate investment strategies, natural capital, impact investing and the potential effects and benefits of consolidation.
