Ivan McKee, the Scottish government’s minister for public finance, is to give a keynote address at the Pensions Expert DB Strategic Summit next month.
In a presentation to open the second day of the conference on 17 September, McKee will explore how the Scottish government is seeking to enhance its partnership with investors and make Scotland a more attractive place for investment.
He will also outline initiatives such as the private sector-led Investor Panel, which has been set up to deliver a co-ordinated programme to attract investment in the priority areas of net zero, housing, and infrastructure.
McKee has been a member of the Scottish parliament (MSP) since 2016, representing Glasgow Provan, and was appointed to his current role in May 2024.
His responsibilities include oversight of public sector pensions in Scotland, including the country’s 11 Local Government Pension Scheme funds. At the DB Strategic Summit, he will highlight these funds’ successes in investing locally and call for more collaboration between private and public sector bodies on regional projects.
He was previously the minister for trade, investment and innovation, and the minister for business, trade, tourism and enterprise.
Also speaking at the DB Strategic Summit is Mike Wedderspoon from the Scottish National Investment Bank, who will outline the bank’s work with private sector companies and investors across Scotland.
The bank invests in Scottish business, projects and communities to deliver environmental, social and financial returns. It primarily aims to support the country’s net-zero ambition, as well as supporting innovation and technological development.
The Pensions Expert DB Strategic Summit takes place on 16 and 17 September 2025 at Cameron House, near Glasgow.
