On the go: The Pensions Management Institute has appointed Barnett Waddingham principal Sara Cook as its president.
Cook will chair the PMI’s advisory council and sit on the board as a non-executive director. The PMI is a professional body that supports and develops the experts who run UK pension schemes and has 7,300 members.
PMI chief executive Gareth Tancred commented: “Sara’s wealth of experience and expertise has been invaluable over her many years of service on the advisory council and serving on various board committees. The president is the principal ambassador for the institute and we very much look forward to continuing to work with her.”
Cook’s appointment was accompanied by the election of First Actuarial’s head of pensions administration, Robert Wakefield, as vice-president. Wakefield will join the PMI board as a NED, as part of his role.
Kier pensions manager Rosie Lacey, meanwhile, remains as the PMI’s other vice-president for another year. Lacey will also remain as a NED on the PMI board.
ZenZero consulting director Lesley Alexander, who has been a board member since 2017, has stood down from PMI’s advisory council, having served the maximum of two consecutive terms. Alexander was a vice-president for two years and then president for two one-year terms.
Smart Pension director Tim Phillips and Emma Watkins, managing director of retirement and longstanding at Scottish Widows, had chosen not to stand again for a second term, having served one term on the advisory council. Tesco pension manager Eve Keith was elected to the advisory council for her first term.
Ruston Smith, who among other roles chairs the trustee board of Tesco’s defined benefit scheme, has remained chair of the board for a further year as part of his three-year term.
