Administration provider Aptia has acquired consultancy firm Atkin Pensions as part of a move to broaden its service offering to include consulting and actuarial abilities.
The company – which acquired Mercer’s administration business in 2023 – has also hired Stuart Heatley from Capita to lead its new consultancy unit.
Heatley worked at Capita for 11 years, most recently as global practice leader for Capita Pensions Solutions. He has also worked at Aon and Scottish Life.
In a press release announcing the acquisition, Aptia said “many” of its clients were seeking a “bundled solution” that combines administration with other services such as consulting and actuarial advice.
Aptia chief executive Bala Viswanathan said the move was “a significant milestone” in the company’s growth.
“This directly addresses our clients’ requests for a comprehensive and integrated offering,” Viswanathan added. “Our continued investment in talent and technology is central to enhancing the value we deliver to our clients.”
Chris Atkin, founder of Atkin Pensions, said: “We are excited at the opportunity to join Aptia and support its growth by developing a combined actuarial and administration offering for clients seeking a single bundled service solution.
“With our deep expertise in providing a wide range of services in the pensions industry, we are confident that we can use our experience to help Aptia’s clients manage their schemes more effectively and efficiently in the future.”
