The Competition and Markets Authority could publish the first of its findings on the UK fiduciary management market as early as this month, according to a provisional timetable released on Wednesday.
Since being asked in September last year to investigate the sector, which is dominated by three large companies, the CMA has taken evidence from a wide range of market participants including trustees, regulators and industry bodies as well as consultants themselves.
The competition watchdog said it expected to publish the first of its working papers in February, with all papers published by May. They will then be worked into a provisional decision report, expected in July 2018.
The working papers are likely to be published on topics including fees and quality of service, barriers to entry, fiduciary management, and profitability. Parties will have the chance to respond to the analyses before the provisional decision report is published.
