Cartwright, an independent privately-owned pension actuarial, investment consulting, consultancy and administration firm has given all staff a one-off payment to help with the increasing cost of living.

The firm, which supports defined benefit and hybrid schemes, has given each of its 101-strong team a one-off cost of living payment of up to £2,000 in addition to their salary, profit share and other performance related bonuses.

Cartwright was set up to support small and medium-sized schemes in 1986, and has offices in Godalming, Chelmsford, and Farnborough, it made the decision to make the on-off payment after the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed the cost of living, as defined by annual food inflation, rose 18.4 per cent in May.

It said the extra financial support followed from an approach it took last summer when Cartwright was one of the first in the sector to provide cost of living support. Last year, all staff received £1,000 to help ease the financial impact.

Ian Cartwright, founder and chairman of Cartwright Group, said: “I think everyone hoped the significant pressure on individuals and families due to the crisis would have eased since last year. However, cost of living pressures during the first half of 2023 led us to take yet more action to help support our staff.”

Robin Pearce, operations director at Cartwright Group, added: “It’s our people that make our business a success and these are challenging times for all of us. We are deeply proud of their commitment and the supportive culture we have all fostered here at Cartwright. Therefore, it’s vital we continue to support our colleagues if and where we can.”
