Pensions Expert is to launch a live blog at the Pensions UK Annual Conference next week, to expand our coverage of the trade body’s flagship event and bring highlights to those who cannot attend in person.
Taking place in Manchester from 14-16 October, the conference is the first since Pensions UK’s summer rebrand and the launch of its ‘2030 Ready’ project on pension reform.
It comes as the UK pensions sector faces huge changes. The Pension Schemes Bill, currently going through parliament, sets the legislative framework for the consolidation of small defined contribution pension pots, the creation of “megafunds”, powers for defined benefit (DB) scheme trustees to release surplus capital, and reforms for the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Over the coming months and years, we also expect to see the introduction of pensions dashboards, more commercial consolidators for DB schemes, and greater adoption of the collective defined contribution model.
