Editor's note: On Monday December 16th the final print issue of Pensions Week will be published. On January 13th we will become Pensions Expert.

For more than 15 years Pensions Week, from the Financial Times, has been a trusted weekly digest of news and analysis for pension scheme management teams.

Each Monday we provide 8,000 print subscribers – covering 88 per cent of the 300 largest UK pension funds and 80 of the FTSE 100 – with insights that inform the decisions you make.

But this is only part of what we now do. Today we reach more people online – through desktop, tablet and, most recently, our iPad reader – than we do in our weekly magazine.

As our readers’ needs have changed, so have we. We are now a web-first title – providing daily updates and email alerts to bring you the latest case studies, analysis and comment on issues facing workplace pension schemes.

In our editorial approach, we have refocused on what pension scheme management teams really care about: how their contemporaries are working to improve the performance, reduce the risks, or control the costs of their pension schemes, and what they are saying about it.

As our title pushes on into the digital age, Pensions Week is becoming Pensions Expert. We are much more than a weekly pensions magazine, and I invite you to come and see what you may have been missing. Online we provide:

  • Cutting-edge video featuring politicians, industry experts and pension managers discussing the issues of the day.
  • Dedicated microsites bringing together content on issues including auto-enrolment and defined benefit investment.
  • Regular email updates including the Weekly Wrap email every Friday, bringing together key industry stories from across the FT group.

But we will not be creating content for content’s sake. We will maintain our pedigree for cutting through the industry noise to the real issues.

We have also redesigned the magazine to better fit what we think an intelligent pensions title, published by the Financial Times, should look like and provide. We hope you like it.

Yours faithfully,

Ian Smith
