Latest hires, promotions and appointments including Canada Life, TPT Retirement Solutions, Independent Governance Group and Broadstone.

Professional trustee firm Independent Governance Group (IGG) has hired Network Rail’s director of pensions amid a raft of hires to grow its trustee team.

Mark Engelbretson has joined IGG as a trustee director having been director of pensions at Network Rail for seven years. During this period he also served as a trustee director at Railpen.

Other new staff to have joined IGG in December and January include associate director Susan Barber, who was previously a senior trust officer at ITS.

Trustee manager Katherine Kitt is another new appointment, having spent time in a number of in-house pensions managerial roles including at Unipart Group and the University of Reading.

Senior associate Eleanor Rowe has joined from Muse Advisory where she was a consultant. Andrew Davy, previously a client service manager at Aon, has joined as an associate, and will work alongside assistant associates James Lee and Sylvia Okolie.

IGG said it had also appointed five staff to its business services teams.

Canada Life eyes expansion in bulk annuities market

Canada Life has grown its bulk annuities team with the appointment of Shreyas Sridhar as business development director.

Shreyas was most recently head of reinsurance and international development in Legal & General’s pension risk transfer business.

Tim Coulson, managing director for bulk purchase annuities at Canada Life UK, said the company planned to continue to grow this team “to seize opportunities in a buoyant bulk annuities market”.

Broadstone adds climate specialist to consulting team

Broadstone has hired Deon Dreyer as an investment director in its London-based consulting and actuarial division.

He joins from Ortec Finance where he worked in the consultancy group’s climate and ESG business. He has previously led investment consulting teams at PwC and Quantum Advisory, and has also worked at Aon, Barclays and Insight Investment.

In his new role, Broadstone said Dreyer would support clients with ESG issues including carbon emissions tracking and related services.

TPT appoints consultant relationship manager

TPT Retirement Solutions has appointed Marc Cox as a consultant relationship manager, responsible for overseeing and enhancing the pension provider’s relationships with employee benefits consultants and fiduciary management oversight teams. 

Cox joins from Mayar Capital, an investment services company, where he was head of investor relations. 

Nicholas Clapp, commercial director at TPT, said Cox would be “pivotal in leading our sales strategy and in bringing in new business, elevating the strength of our existing robust business pipeline”.
